adults in the world cannot read or write

of them are women

There are 130 million school-age girls around the world who do not attend school, and 33 million fewer girls than boys in primary school.

The benefits of changing that are undeniable:

Girls with eight years of education are

four times

less likely to be married as children

A child born to a literate mother is

50%

more likely to survive past the age of 5

A girl with an extra year of education can earn

20%

more as an adult

Boys and Girls, Together

While our primary goal is to help girls, the schools we raise money to build are co-ed and our events and programs are geared to both boys and girls. We believe that strong female role models of every age help erase gender stereotypes and lay the groundwork for long-lasting equality.
