October 11th is a day to celebrate girls, but serious adversities still exist across the world that hinder their education, training and entry into the workforce. Girls have less access to information, communication technology and resources such as the Internet, where the global gender gap is growing.
In honor of this year’s IDG theme of “A Skilled Girl Force,” Girls Supporting Girls is announcing TWO new international projects:
First, we’re teaming up again with our wonderful partners at buildOn to fund construction of a primary school and create an adult literacy program in southern Haiti. Work is anticipated to start in the summer of 2019. You can contribute directly to this amazing project here.
We’re also partnering with Schools for Salone, a nonprofit that makes education possible for children in Sierra Leone, to fund a teaching training workshop plus 20 student scholarships for girls.
We’re so excited to help foster a new generation of leaders. We hope you’ll join us!
